Privacy policy
Effective 2026-09-18. Draft pending review.
This policy says what Meals This Week collects, why, how long it is kept, and how to have it removed. It is written to be read.
The waitlist
Before the app opens, the site collects one thing on purpose: the email address you type into the waitlist form. We store it to send a single email when the app opens. To keep automated abuse off the form we also store a salted hash of your connection address (never the address itself), the name of your browser, and the page that sent you here. None of that is used for anything else.
Your account
When you sign in we store your email address and the times you signed in. Sign in is by a link sent to your email; we do not store a password. A session cookie keeps you signed in on the device you used. It is the only cookie the app sets.
What the app stores for you
Your rules (diet, allergies, ingredients you skip, household size, unit system, theme), your weekly plans and which dinners you marked cooked, the items you ticked or added on a grocery list, and the recipes you favorited. All of it exists so the app can do its job for you, and only you can read it.
What we do not do
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with anyone except the providers that run the service for us (hosting, database, email delivery), each under a contract that limits them to that job. There are no analytics or advertising trackers on the site today; if that changes for the free tier, this page will say exactly what runs and how to opt out before it runs.
How long we keep it
Waitlist emails are kept until the launch email goes out or until you ask to be removed, whichever comes first. Account data is kept while your account exists. When you delete your account from Settings, your plans, grocery lists, favorites and preferences are deleted with it; backups that contain them expire within thirty days.
Your rights
You can see and change your data in the app, export it on request, and delete it yourself. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or a US state with a privacy law, you have the rights those laws give you, including access, correction, deletion and objection. Write to the address below and we will act within thirty days.
Children
The service is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has an account, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes and contact
When this policy changes, the effective date at the top moves and material changes are announced on the site. Questions, requests and complaints go to the address below.
